DOMAINE DE CHEVALIER Grand Cru Classé de Graves

Comments

Since its bottling in June 2005, this wine is even better than it promised.
Its complex and intense nose of red berries and blackberries, plum jam, mocha, chocolate, and spices remind us the specific climate of this hot vintage ...
In the mouth, full and tight structure, fine, elegant and racy tannins, revealing the mineral flavors of liquorice and smoke of the terroir. Very balanced wine, strong and fine.

Mid garnet. Sweet and red-fruited. As Sebastian Payne MW (bordeaux buyer at the Wine Society for many years) says, put it in a burgundy bottle and everyone would love it. Just a touch of cigar box and cedar freshness to suggest a Cabernet influence. Generous and rounded on the palate, The red fruit lovely and deeply present. Fully resolved and ready now. Don’t wait. I am loving the nose of white peaches, plums, and milk chocolate. So yummy. Full and juicy, with velvety tannins and a lovely freshness. Really charming, friendly, and enjoyable, but will still improve with age. Pull the cork after 2013. Score 92.
