DECANTER, june 2008 , primeur blanc 2007 : * * * * 16,5

"Light aroma. Crisp and fresh, with nice, sweet fruit and a fine seam of acidity. Appealing, with good fruit and balance. Long crisp finish. Medium to long term 2012-20"

FINE WINE, DOMAINE de CHEVALIER 2007 : 18**

(FINE WINE, issue 20, 2008)

DOMAINE DE CHEVALIER 2007, white : 18 * *

"MB/TD : a litle reduced intitially, but wonderfully complex in its aromas on aeration, then a dense focused palate, the acidity perfectly balanced with the alcohol and structure of the wine, its elegance and purity setting it in a class apart. Above all, its finish is at once more complex and more precise than that of most of its peers, making it the gold standard yet again. 17,5-18

MS : Fine cedar, mineral, and lemon zest scent, rich, elegantly balanced, vigorous middleweight, a considerable concentration of fruit, but without any sense of excess, and firm, vital acidity, a dry, fruit and mineral-intense wine of great aromatic projection and persistence, both on the palate and on the finish, but retaining its elegant proportions. A splendid Domaine de Chevalier, wich will need, and reward, considerable botle age. 2018-35+. 18+

WINE AND SPIRIT

Domaine de Chevalier blanc 2007 : 92-93

"There’ll be no shortage of demand for this outstanding dry white, made from 90% Sauvignon Blanc. Wonderful complexity. While this white DdC is the more famous - and more expensive - don’t forget the red this year. 2010-2022

* 2007 (white):93-96

This estate produces some of the best Whites I have ever tasted! The 2007 is no exception since it demonstrates big white-fruit aromas intertwined with honey, orange zest, and underlying mineral with notions of white flower. A wine of finesse, expansiveness, and substantial concentration in addition to a beautiful symmetry, and pristine precision. There is no doubting it is a massive wine of direction and appeal, but can it exceed the 2006? A star in the vintage! 93-96

Domaine de Chevalier 2007 White (R.V.): 97

Wonderfully aromatic, this sure-to-be legendary wine offers richness, ripeness, and pure yellow fruits, peaches and apricots, all alongside a structured strain of chalky minerality. It is a wine for long aging, the wood spice just becoming integrated, the fruit still in its first vibrancy. But even now, it fills the mouth with generous fruits, and a great finish of citrus.

"DOMAINE DE CHEVALIER Pessac-Léognan White 2007 Score: 91-94

Fresh and bright, with mineral, lemon and apple aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, with a lemony palate, fresh acidity and a long, subtle finish."

Domaine de Chevalier blanc 2007 (B & D): 18

Arôme noble et complexe de fruits jaunes avec une touche miellée, grande matière, grande longueur, exceptionnel raffinement d’élaboration, mais on peut encore attendre. Note : 18.0

Domaine de Chevalier blanc 2007 (N. M.) : 93

Tasted blind at the 2007 Bordeaux horizontal in Southwold. This has a fine, vivacious bouquet of almond, grapefruit ; a touch of pear and some lovely crushed stone aromas coming through with time. The palate is well balanced with good acidity and weight. It has an appealing waxy texture with notes of citrus lemon, pear and walnut, though it clams up towards the finish. Give this time in bottle, as it is sure to repay you. Tasted January 2011.

Izak LITWAR, Domaine de Chevalier Blanc 2007 : 96+

Domaine de Chevalier blanc - 85% Sauvignon Blanc + 15% Semillion. Very, very intense aromas of acacia flower, pear and pineapple on the nose, deep and refined. Exceptionally structured, strikingly fine acidity, very long and deep on the palate, excellent balance and aftertaste. Olivier Bernard believes this one is even better than 2002 vintage (counted as one of the best white vintages in last 20 years) with better structure, and I agree with him. 96+p
