R. Parker : Domaine de Chevalier Blanc 2009 : 95 +
This wine has closed down since I saw it prior to bottling. A blend of 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Semillon from one of the great estates in Pessac-Leognan, the wine has notes of white currants, melon, and flint/crushed rock with a delicate hit of orange and lemon zest. Give it another 4-5 years of cellaring and drink it over the following three decades. 95+

Domaine de Chevalier blanc 2009 (WS) : 92
92. Very fresh and bright, with a lovely racy edge from the start, showing mouthwatering quinine, white peach and Meyer lemon notes that all glide through the deftly toasty finish. Drink now through 2020. 2,000 cases made. –JM

DECANTER, Chevalier Primeur 2009 (white):*****,18,5 points
Domaine de Chevalier Blanc, Cru Classe Graves, Pessac-Leognan 2009
Lemon yellow, quite restrained floral nose, fresh pears, green apples, shows complexity and vineyard depth, great purity and quite succulent length while retaining its restrained and impressive class. Drink 2013-20. (18.5 points)
Domaine de Chevalier primeur 2009 (J. S.) : 97-98
This is very dense and powerful, reminds me of the 2005 but it has more structure and acidity. It’s a blockbuster with a huge finish, Grand Cru Burgundy style. Fresh and massive. Barrel sample. 97-98

Domaine de Chevalier blanc 2009 (N. M.): 94
Served blind at the Southwold 2009 tasting. This has a much better bouquet with tangible minerality and tension - some fine crisp Sauvignon Blanc here and superb delineation. The palate is nicely balanced with lime, orange peel and citric notes whilst the finish shows comparatively more weight and presence than its peers. Fine. Tasted January 2013. 94

Tasted at the chateau. A very primal nose with touches of red apple, pear, a touch of beeswax and apple-blossom. Well defined but perhaps lacking the edginess displayed by the 2007 at this stage. The palate is well balanced and light on its feet, well-judged acidity, a slight creaminess on the entry, broadening out nicely on the palate and showing more complexity than might have been aromatically implied. Very pure on the finish. Excellent. Tasted April 2010. 90-92

80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Sémillon. Deep greenish gold with some hint of stinky cats pee syrup - and absolutely delicious. This seemed to be at the perfect stage of evolution to drink in 2016. Riper than most vintages would be at seven years old. Rich yet full of life and with a most seductive hint of sweetness on the finish - though overall a very dry wine.

Tasted five times - last time in April 2011. Consistent notes. Extremely flowery nose with pineapple, acacia, citron , lemon and apples, refined, rich, splendid acidity, excellent balance and thrillingly smooth aftertaste. Great elegance and style. Stunning beauty.
